A beautiful antique sapphire and diamond ring from the Art Deco era. The ring features the geometric design of the period with a central diamond surrounded by calibre set square cut sapphires. Radiating from the central stone are small rose cut diamonds and two rows of square cut sapphires. The gold has milligrain edging and the sides are engraved with an arrow leaf design.
This is a very special antique piece despite there being a stone missing and evidence of repair work.
Measurements and markings:
Any hallmarks and stamps have been erased over time. It has been tested for 18kt gold. The band is 2mm in width and has a depth of approximately 1.5mm. The widest part of the ring at the front is just under 10mm.
Gemstones:
The central diamond is a rose cut diamond with a number of facets on its face. It has an estimated carat weight of .30 cts. In addition there are 20 x small 1-2mm rose cut diamonds.There are 22 square cut sapphires and 1 x round sapphire. They range from a deep rich blue to two colour-zoned sapphires with both a pale and a dark blue evident. Ring size is 7.25.
Condition:
The piece has two square cut sapphires on the side missing and one of the calibre set stones is a round so has been replaced, there are remnants of glue and evidence of repair work on the back. It shows definite signs of how old it is. The price reflects this
