Antique rose gold locket with a border of pearls, hallmarked 9kt gold, Chester and 1907.

Antique rose gold locket surrounded by pearls, an Edwardian locket with a contemporary lover's eye drawing. Lover's eye Jewellery was popular for about thirty years in the Georgian era. Shared between lovers they featured on lockets, rings, snuff boxes and were often worn have hidden to add to their mystery. 

Marks and measurements:
The locket has a diameter of 33mm, length with decorative bail and ring is 42mm. Hallmarked Chester, 9kt and 1907. The tiny pearls range from ivory to grey in colour. The edge of pearl setting has a frilled detail. The length of the new rose gold plated chain that it hangs on is 76 cms. 

Condition:
The locket is in very good condition. There is one pearl missing from the border.
